The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee has continued its investigation into the ₦1.3 billion budget allocation for the Presidential Economic Advisory Council, with officials of the Budget Office of the Federation appearing before lawmakers to provide explanations on the controversial appropriation.

During the hearing, members of the committee expressed concerns over the rationale behind the allocation and sought detailed clarification on how the funds were proposed, approved, and incorporated into the national budget. The lawmakers emphasized that all government expenditures must be transparent, properly documented, and in line with the principles of accountability and fiscal responsibility.

In response, officials from the Budget Office maintained that the appropriation complied with established budgetary procedures and formed part of the duly approved national budget. They assured the committee that every document relating to the allocation would be presented to support their submissions and aid the ongoing investigation.

The committee reaffirmed its determination to ensure that public funds are managed responsibly, stressing that its investigation is aimed at strengthening public confidence in Nigeria's budgeting process. Additional hearings are expected as more stakeholders and government officials are invited to appear before the panel.
